Sports Betting Tracking and Bankroll FAQ

Clear answers about betting units, ROI, bankroll tracking, drawdown, portfolio exposure and how BetInsidR records performance.

Bankroll and stake sizing

What is a sports betting bankroll?

A bankroll is a defined amount set aside for betting activity and separated from essential spending and savings. It provides the reference amount for stake sizing and portfolio risk.

How much should one betting unit be?

A unit is a personal risk measure rather than a universal amount. Percentage-based systems often define it as a small share of the bankroll. The appropriate level depends on personal risk tolerance, and a smaller percentage generally produces less volatility.

What is portfolio exposure?

Portfolio exposure is the combined amount currently at risk across all open positions in that portfolio. It shows concentration that may not be obvious when each stake is viewed separately.

Performance metrics

How is sports betting ROI calculated?

ROI is net profit divided by the total amount staked, multiplied by 100. It measures the historical return per unit of turnover, not return on the starting bankroll.

What is unit yield?

Unit yield is net profit in units divided by total units staked, multiplied by 100. It allows records using different monetary bankrolls to be compared on a normalized scale.

Why is win rate not enough?

Win rate ignores the odds and size of each position. A record can win less often and still be profitable at higher prices, or win frequently and still lose when prices are too short.

What is maximum drawdown?

Maximum drawdown is the largest decline from a previous portfolio peak to a later trough. It describes the most severe historical fall in the tracked period.

What does profit factor measure?

Profit factor divides gross profit from winning positions by gross loss from losing positions. A value above one means gross winnings exceeded gross losses in that sample.

Using BetInsidR

Does BetInsidR place bets or hold customer money?

No. BetInsidR is analytics, insight and portfolio-tracking software. It is not a bookmaker, does not execute wagers and does not hold customer funds.

What is the difference between package and portfolio performance?

Package performance follows published insights on a common unit-based scale. Personal portfolio performance reflects the user’s own starting value, recorded stakes and settled positions.

Are open positions included in bankroll performance?

Open positions remain visible as exposure, but the bankroll-performance chart uses settled positions. This avoids treating an unresolved position as either profit or loss.

Does tracked performance guarantee future results?

No. Historical data describes only the recorded sample. Sports outcomes remain uncertain, and tracking or stake-management tools cannot guarantee a profit.
